Happy Monday! I am so excited to bring y’all a much requested blog post today. Building up your work wear can be challenging and take time but starting with the basics is the best way to start. Below I have broken it up into categories and then linked basic’s to shop:)
I hope this is a really helpful blog post for most of y’all! It was so much fun putting it together and I always love being able to produce recommendations I receive:)
Blazer’s
Blazers are a really easy way to start and I highly recommend getting at minimum a black blazer. This is where I started and it lead into my love for blazers! I have many different colors and patterns but my true basics which are shown above. I have a black, navy, creme and white one.
The thing I love the most about blazers is they go with dresses, skirts or with pants! It can turn a very simple dress into a work appropriate outfit. I also love to style them casually too with jeans!
Trouser’s
These are my go-to pants for work and it has taken some time to find the right ones. There are many different work pants out there but they don’t always fit right or look great. I have a couple different black pants because they go with everything easily. The white pants are a little bit more bold and get dirty fast. But they look so chic with a creme blouse or blazer.
I highly suggest getting neutral pants and then venturing into colored ones. Also note the environment that you will be working in. Some places are more formal than others and colored pants might not be appropriate. All neutral colors (shown above) are great to wear in most environments!
Top’s
Blouses will go along way in your work wardrobe! They go with skirts or pants easily. I suggest getting as many as you can but also getting neutral colors so that you have staples. My neutrals are black, navy, blush and white! I love adding in the blush for a feminine feel.
Also tanks will work very well in your work looks! I wear them under blazers because I don’t feel comfortable wearing just tanks. But if this is fine at your place, I would at least grab neutral colors so you can mix them with different patterns!
Dress
Out of everything, this little black dress is probably my most worn in my work wear! Find yourself a great staple black dress that can be dressed up or down. This one goes with heels or flats which is helpful depending on what meetings I have that day. Also if you are running late, this is so easy to throw on with black flats and go!
I love love this post! Not only is that one of my favorite pics of you ever, but this is so helpful and perfect for people who are just getting started in the work field. Also I need the link to that clothing rack! That seems so helpful!
Thank you so much:) The rack is from Ikea! It’s under $10!!
This is such a great post! I love all of your tips and agree that these are necessary basics.
This is the coolest post, Hannah!! Really enjoyed reading this one!
