Welcome to my kitchen! A couple weeks ago I made homemade cinnamon rolls to surprise Jeremy on his birthday. They were a huge hit not only for him but some of our friends as well! I was honestly impressed they even came out like cinnamon rolls haha. For today’s blog post I wanted to share the recipe that I used to make these delicious cinnamon rolls and the MacKenzie-Childs bakeware I used:)
Before diving into the recipe, I wanted to share a quick tour around the kitchen! Since we have been at home a lot more it’s given me an opportunity to cook/bake new things! Anyone else been spending more time in the kitchen? Being in the kitchen more has made me realize the importance of having good bakeware/cookware. I am really excited to partner with MacKenzie-Childs to share all the different items they have and the prints that I love!
Organization:
Small Royal Check Kitchen Canister // Medium Royal Check Kitchen Canister // Royal Check Cookie Jar // Large Flower Market Canister // Medium Flower Market Canister // Small Flower Market Canister
First stop in the kitchen tour is my tiny pantry! Since it’s just me living here it doesn’t really bother me too much. But in the next house I will want to make sure it is a little bit bigger. With it being so small organization is key! I love that MacKenzie-Childs has these glass jar options. I am able to incorporate the Royal Check print into my pantry organization and it allows me to clearly see what is in each jar. A little trick to these jars, is cutting the label out on the food package and placing it on the inside of the lid. That way you can’t see the labels but you will know what it is!
Another area that needed some organizing was my coffee station. I have never loved the Kurig organizers so when I saw these Mackenzie-Childs canisters I knew they would be perfect to hold my k-cups. I put 2 different flavored k-cups in the large and medium and then put my tea bags in the small. I am not a sugar person but you could definitely use the small size for sugar instead of tea!
Cookware:
Flower Market 2.5 QT Saucepan // Flower Market 7 QT Stockpot // Courtly Check 3 QT Tea Kettle // Flower Market Utensil Holder
MacKenzie-Childs has the most beautiful cookware! Not only is it actually functional but you can leave them out on your stove top as decoration. These three items are always left out as I think they really dress up the outdated stove (saving to upgrade the stove and microwave). I have their 1 QT saucepan too which I use more than anything else since I am only cooking for one right now. If anything the Tea Kettle is iconic and something you will have on your stove top for years to come!
Bakeware:
Flower Market Large Everyday Bowl // Flower Market Medium Everyday Bowl // Flower Market Small Everyday Bowl // Royal Check Measuring Cup // Royal Check Large Whisk // Flower Market Rolling Pin // Royal Check Baking Pan
Now for the cinnamon roll recipe! Below I share the details of what I did to make the dough, the filling, and the frosting on top:) Let me know if you try this recipe out!
Dough Ingredients:
- 1 Cup of milk warmed
- 2 1/2 TSP Instant Yeast Dry
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/3 Cup of butter melted
- 1 TSP Salt
- 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 4 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 Cup of Heavy Cream (This will be poured over the rising dough)
Filling Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup of Butter (soften it but don’t melt)
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 2 TBSP of Cinnamon
Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients:
- 6 Ounces of Cream Cheese
- 1/3 Cup of softened Butter
- 2 Cups of Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 TBSP Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
- Pour warm milk into large bowl.
- Add in yeast, eggs, melted butter, salt and sugar. Whisk together
- Add flour and whisk the ingredients together. It will get sticky so once you can’t whisk, put flour on your hands and knead the dough. You can also beat it with your hands. Don’t add more flour. The dough should be sticky.
- Spray a medium bowl with cooking spray. Remove the dough from the large bowl. Form it into a ball and place in the medium bowl.
- Heat up the oven to 170 degrees (lowest temperature) for 2 minutes then turn the oven off. Cover the medium bowl with a towel and place in the warm oven to rise for 30 minutes.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the cinnamon filling. In a small bowl mix together the sugar and the cinnamon.
- Warm up the butter stick but don’t make it melt. You will spread this over the rolled out dough.
- Once the dough is double the size or risen for 30 minutes, take it out of the bowl and place it on a flour covered surface.
- Take a rolling pin that is covered in flour (or use a wine bottle) and roll out the dough to be a large rectangle.
- Take the warm butter and spread it all over the rolled out dough. Then sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon filling over the dough.
- Take the short end of the dough and start to roll it towards the other end. Once you are half way stop and cut along the roll. Take the other end of the dough and roll to towards the center.
- Once both rolls are aligned, measure out the center of each long roll. Using a knife cut through the middle and then measure out how big or small you want each roll to be.
- Grease a large pan and then place the rolls into the pan.
- Cover the pan and let the rolls rise for 20 minutes.
- Once the rolls have almost doubled in size, pour the heavy cream over the rolls. Let the heavy cream soak in and around the rolls.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Bake the cinnamon rolls for 15 minutes or until they are lightly golden.
- While the cinnamon rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting.
- In a medium bowl, soften the cream cheese and the butter. Blend both together well. Add the vanilla extract and the powdered sugar. Mixing everything together.
- Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and cooled, spread the frosting over the cinnamon rolls.
- ENJOY!
