Hosting The Holidays With MacKenzie-Childs!

When it comes to Christmas, I am more of a traditionalist. I enjoy the views of reds, greens and yellows that fill my home during this time of year. So when it comes to hosting the holiday’s, I wanted the tablescape to feel very much the same! There is something so enjoyable about sitting around the dining room table with those you love and feasting on Christmas plates or cheersing with Christmas glasses.

MacKenzie-Childs has a collection called Highbanks that I could not keep my eyes off! It is no secret that I love a good Christmas plaid and when I saw the dining room plates with the MacKenzie-Childs Farmhouse painted on them, I wanted it all. In the MacKenzie-Childs collection there are serving plates, bowls, plates, napkins, a nutcracker, pillows and more! Just like any Christmas plaid, each item is timeless and something that won’t ever go out of style.

Since this year is my first Christmas being a homeowner, I focused a lot on collecting holiday items that I could build traditions with. When I was growing up, my mom had these Christmas plates that I always got so excited to eat out of. They were plates shaped like Santa, a Snowman and a Penguin. It was a small thing like that that got me so excited for Christmas time. My hope is that these MacKenzie-Childs dinner plates become a tradition for my own family and something I use to host for many holidays to come!

A couple months ago I got the opportunity to meet with the MacKenzie-Childs team and learn more about the brand. They graciously hosted a group of Dallas Bloggers for a day long event filled with their variety of tablescapes, flower arrangements, pottery painting, and wreath making! Something the team stressed over and over again was that their items were meant to be used. Their dinnerware weren’t meant to be just decor but for you and your guests to actually enjoy. With hosting people it can be hard to want to use your fine dinnerware due to the fear of it getting damaged. I loved hearing and seeing that everything was “hosting friendly”!

As a host, having something people can nibble on while they wait for their food is a must. To cook hors d’oeuvres as well as all the meal isn’t an easy task so I highly recommend creating a fun cheese platter instead! Using the MacKenzie-Childs serving plate it was really easy to throw a couple cheeses, a variety of meats, crackers, and jam onto. The guest can sit around chatting while enjoying a light snack before dinner. Plus cheese platters pair very well with wine!

Who are you planning on hosting this holiday season and what are you serving your guests? Even if you aren’t having people over to your home, the MacKenzie-Childs Highbanks serving plate with a cake or cheese, would be a wonderful display to show up at another home with!

This blog post was a paid partnership with MacKenzie-Childs. As always all opinions are my own.
