Happy Monday! Now that I am sharing more of my work wear with y’all it is only fair that I share where I find a lot of my inspiration… The one and only Olivia Pope! Besides her personal issues and character flaws, she truly was/is a bad a**!! That girl took nothing from no one… not even the president. She was always one step of everyone else (“It’s handled”) and had a wardrobe I could only ever dream of! Also have to throw in the wine glass… ICONIC!
Her work wear is always on point! My favorite thing she wears in almost every episode is the wrap coats like the one I am wearing above. This one I have is so warm and goes with everything. Maybe that’s why she is always wearing them haha! I love the tie at the waist because some coats can look really big on me if not fitted right. Her clothing is always so tasteful and looks stunning on. It makes dressing up for work look easy. Quite the contrary haha.
Not only does her work wardrobe inspire me but also as a women in business. She expressed such confidence even in times when she was breaking. This is something I have to work on every single day especially at work. For example, being a consultant you have to make quick decisions during meetings in front of the client and showing your not confident in your answer can appear like you don’t know what you are doing.
Last thing that I took away from Olivia Pope was that she doesn’t apologize for anything or anyone! I have to say that this is something I am so bad at. Even when something is someone else’s fault I am the first one to apologize. If I think I have said something wrong in a meeting, I apologize even if no one has given me any indication it was wrong. Another thing is, Olivia Pope also doesn’t apologize for being herself. She might come off a little bossy at times but she gets things done impeccably. I am constantly thinking I should apologize for being a little too bossy but the truth is I am a huge perfectionist. I like things done a certain way and to be as organized as possible. Sometimes that means getting on to people or asking of more from them haha.
