Happy Friday! On weekends where Jeremy and I don’t have much to do we love to explore the Dallas! I am always looking for a getaway but sometimes just exploring your city during the weekend can get your mind off of the week. There are endless amounts of things to do or eat at here in Dallas but I definitely have my favorites. Since we spent last weekend at the Dallas Arboretum, today I thought I would round all of my favorite coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, and places to go as a “All Things Dallas Guide”.
Coffee
I am a huge fan of coffee shops! There is something about sitting there with others around you while sipping coffee and working that is very enjoyable. Maybe its the motivation from others around me that gets me excited to push myself in what I am doing. I feel like I have tried every single possible coffee shop here in Dallas so I won’t list them all! But my absolute favorites are the following…
- Royal Blue Grocery: This is where I go to study! It’s very close to SMU and such a great vibe. It isn’t super quiet because there are always tons of people there but I love the energy. The coffee is great too and you can sit outside!
- Halcyon: Talk about having the cutest decor! There is tons of seating between coaches, booths and chairs so it doesn’t feel very packed. You can also get brunch there and they have a bar:)
- Magnolias Sous Le Pont: This place is super instagramable! They have blue walls and marble tables on the outside! It’s kind of hard to get to but well worth it. I love their coffee!
- Bird Bakery: This is not necessarily a coffee shop but I study here all the time too so I kind of think of it as one! My favorite thing to get is a coffee with a freshly baked cupcake:) If you follow me on insta-stories you will have seen this place a time or too haha.
Dining
I really had to cut this down to my absolute favorites because there are thousands of great places to eat here in Dallas! Some of them are brunch places and some are dinner places.
- Bread Winners: Hands down my favorite brunch place! It’s always packed though so be sure to get there early!!
- Mercat Bistro: So so cute! I love their brunch a lot!
- STIRR: If you have been on instagram then you have most likely seen this place! They are the restaurant that has the stairs that say “Live Simply. Dream Big. Be Grateful. Give Love. Laugh Lots.” They also have a really cute rooftop area:)
- HG Supply Co: Their rooftop has the best views and so fun to sit outside and sip cocktails/wine! The food is really good too. If your a vegetarian then you will love this place.
- Anvil Pub: If you are into bloody mary’s then this is your place! The bloody mary’s are HUGE!! Jeremy and I would always split one because they are basically a meal haha.
- Reunion Tower: Now if your looking for something super fancy with an incredible view… this is it! My recommendation is make your reservation for an hour and a half before the sun will set. You will thank me later when you see the sun dip behind the horizon:)
- Wild Salsa: I am just now realizing that I didn’t put anything else Tex-Mex on this list… am I losing it? haha Dallas is known for its Tex-Mex and this is my favorite place to go. It’s right in Downtown Dallas and very close to Deep Ellum so you can head out right after!
- Emporium Pies: Alright this isn’t “dining” buutttt I had to add this desert place because it is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Their pie crust has me drooling currently. I get the “Smooth Operator” and nothing else. Jeremy once bought another flavor to try and I was so upset haha. Also they have a really cute Instagramable wall infront of their shop!
Do
Unfortunately, Dallas isn’t exactly known for it’s outdoor activities but I have started to appreciate museums more and more lately! I have listed some of the things I have done and other things I do generally on the weekends:)
- Klyde Warren Park: This is great during the spring! There are fun little things to do at the park and they are always having activities like early morning yoga, etc. During Christmas they set up an ice skating ring and it’s really magical. Throughout the year they do have great food trucks stationed there.
- Dallas Art Museum: I feel like this is just a “must do”! They have new exhibits all the time, recently they have the pumpkins, and they are fun go and see.
- Dallas Aquarium: The aquarium is sooo fun! If its a rainy day you will find this place packed because it’s all covered. My favorite part is the flamingos and the penguins:)
- Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens: These pictures were taken here! They had all their spring tulips blooming and it smelt incredible. Jeremy and I loved walking around here. Also best place to take engagement pictures!
- Katy Trail Ice House: If your from Dallas you know what Katy Trail is but if your not then you need to go! It’s such a great young adult atmosphere. Dogs are welcome too and they have the best margs:)
- Backyard TX: This is new to Dallas and sits right in Deep Ellum. It is covered so during the winter/summer this is the perfect place to be! They have corn hole and giant Janga. It’s a really great place to just hang out.
- Truckyard: Another outdoor place haha! Guess we love our outdoor settings except it’s extremely hot during the summer hmm… but if you want to try food trucks then this is your place! They have different ones come out and they have a bar inside too. This is normally packed on the weekend.
- Dots: This is also an outdoor bar hangout area in Deep Ellum! One of Jeremy and I’s favorite place to go at night. They are the ones that have the massive chandlier outside that is on everyone’s instagrams/snapchats! My drink of choice from there is their Crackberry beer!!
- White Rock Lake: I love White Rock Lake! Jeremy and I have it on our list to go rent bikes and ride around. We used to run here when Jeremy lived in Dallas. I believe you can go kayaking on the lake. Having a picnic on the lake would be perfect:)
Shop
Last but not least… SHOPPING! Dallas is known for all the different malls we have but these are my favorite locations to walk around and shop.
- The Shops At Legacy: This is really really close to my house and they have just opened up the other side of the highway to be Legacy West! Tons of shops and places to eat as well. It isn’t in Dallas but thought I would add it in:)
- Highland Park Village: I can barely afford to look at some of the stores let alone go inside haha. But if you like looking at the finer things in life, this is your place! They also have Antropologie there and a couple other really good stores!
- North Park Mall: I had to include this because this is the ultimate one stop shop for literally everything! I will say it is PACKED on the weekends so try going during the week if you can.
- West Village: This is outdoors and really fun to walk around and shop! Great little area:)
I am so sorry this is super long! I didn’t even make a dent in the great places to go around here haha. I will be doing a Staycation for Plano and Fort Worth as well! I couldn’t fit it all into one post or this would be a book ha. If your from Dallas or have/wanting to visit, leave me a comment below in what your favorite place is here! Have a wonderful weekend:)
This is a great list! Totally referring back to this post when I visit Dallas!
