Tips & Tricks For Packing an Organized Suitcase

Hello friends! As some of you might know I am heading over the little pond for 3 weeks and have spent all week preparing everything. It is exhausting planning everything from seeing relatives to places we will be staying as well as booking flights/rental cars. But the one thing I don’t have to worry about is how I plan to pack everything up. After spending a year traveling the country for my job, I would like to claim that I know a thing or two about packing up a suitcase efficiently. With that being said, I wanted to share my tips and tricks for packing up an organized suitcase.

Tip One: Roll Clothing

I roll all my clothing for a couple reasons… it saves so much space and your clothes don’t wrinkle as easily! Also, if you plan to live out of your suitcase it gives you an opportunity to visualize whats in your suitcase without digging through the whole thing. It does take time to go through and roll each piece of clothing but it will save you tons of time when your traveling. You can also see that shirts roll really small so you can fit a lot more of them. Dresses are a little bit more challenging but is better than trying to stack them on top of each other!

Tip Two: Organize Jewelry

Finding a good jewelry organizer isn’t as easy as it seems! Make sure to think about what your planning to bring. Chunky necklaces and earrings are harder to travel with because you need a bigger jewelry case. I choose to travel with light jewelry so that it goes with everything I wear as well as goes in a small case! Don’t bring your expensive jewelry if your traveling abroad. Pickpocket is a real thing and they know how to take watches off without you noticing so just bare that in mind when your packing. Another tip is always put your jewelry in your carry on! I don’t travel with super expensive accessories but I like to know they are with me:)

Tip Three: Grab Shoe Bags

These shoe bags are ones that come with the Tory Burch shoes! I always save them as my travel shoe bags. They come in really handy because they keep all your shoes together and prevent them from getting damaged. I have also found that traveling with heels can damage your clothing because the heel catches onto threads and pulls them. To stop this from happening, I just pop my heels in these life savers and place them into my suitcase. Also, I try to face each different ways in the bag so they store better in my suitcase:)

Tip Four: Store Electronic Accessories In A Pouch

In my purse, I store all my electronic accessories together in a little bag! It keeps everything organized and in one place instead of having cords everywhere. The pouch doesn’t have to be big, just enough room to fit your phone charger, head phones and other miscellaneous things.

One thing I invested in when I first started traveling was a suitcase weigher! It has saved my butt a ton so I don’t have to open my suitcase in front of everyone at the airport. All you do is hook the handle of the suitcase, turn it on, lift the suitcase using the blue thing, then it tells you the weight. Very easy to use!

When traveling abroad you have to remember to bring a converter for the plugs! I got this Travel Smart one from Target and it converts for multiple different countries which means I don’t have buy a new converter for each country I go to. I have a couple of them so that I can charge multiple things at once!

Tip Five: Pack A Face Routine In Your Purse

I don’t normally do this for domestic flights just because it isn’t really necessary unless I am catching a red eye. But for International flights this is a must for me! I like to try and keep a routine while I am in the air especially to keep my skin from breaking out. Once we are up in the air and it’s getting close to my bedtime, I head off to the restroom and wipe my face, brush my teeth, take my contacts out and then, once I get back to my seat, I put a sheet face mask on! I know it sounds so silly but the planes dry my skin out so bad and give me terrible acne for a couple days. Therefore, I go to extreme measure to help prevent that:)

Tip Six: Travel Steamer

It might seem excessive but I pack a travel size steamer on most of my trips! Especially business ones so I don’t have wrinkles everywhere. It’s relatively small and doesn’t take up much room in your suitcase. This one was from Bed Bath & Beyond for $20… I think! The amount of times I have found myself using this because something came up and I need to look put together/not a hot mess is actually comical haha.

Tip Seven: Items For The Flight

This is more for international flights but you could use it for long domestic flights too! Now we all can’t have that first class experience but you can try and make it feel like one haha. I always pack a eye mask (nothing more annoying than being woken because someone wants a light on), a head rest, socks, comfy shoes and a cardigan to act as a blanket. Another thing I forgot to picture was noise cancelling headphones! If there is one thing you take from this whole post I really hope its that you have to have noise cancelling headphones on a long distance flight. It won’t be so enjoyable listening to the person next to you hacking away all flight, trust me!!

I hope this was insightful for those that are planning on globe trotting this summer! In the comments below let me know what your best packing tip is!! I would absolutely love to hear so I can update my list:)
