About 6 weeks before the wedding, I really got intense about my skincare. Even if I was exhausted in the morning or at night, I stuck to a very strict schedule. I really wanted to make sure my skin was prepared and wasn’t going to break out right before the wedding. I knew that these products worked for my skin so I made sure to create a wedding skincare routine with them. Something I highly recommend is not trying to introduce your skin to new products right before the wedding.
Many years ago a wedding planner I knew told me that a mistake many brides make is trying new things right before the wedding. For example, skincare, waxing, facials, eyebrow threading, fake eyelashes, etc. Things that they don’t know work for them. Which can cause break outs, burns, irritations and added stress. This really stuck in my mind and so I made sure to incorporate new products I was interested in using before the wedding at least 4 months before our wedding date. This worked for me because it gave me a chance to see how my skin would react. But I would highly recommend finding a timeline that works for you.
New Skincare I Tried:
Something new I started to do a couple months before the wedding was shaving my face. I did a lot of research on this before going ahead. I read that it helped your skin absorb products better, remove dead skin and allow for make up to sit better on your face. No I did not find that the hair grew back any thicker or darker than it was before. I got these facial razors from Amazon. Definitely recommend watching videos on it before doing it yourself. Every other week I shave my face to keep up with the removing dead skin and any new peach fuzz. I saw a big difference in my skin after I started shaving and was happy with how it helped my wedding make up look!
Wedding Skincare Routine:
- Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser : Used this morning and night. Takes make up off really well without drying out. Also great way to freshen your skin up in the morning.
- Farmacy Deep Sweep : Used this morning and night right after cleansing my face. I applied it to the a cotton pad and gently wiped all over my skin. Helps to tighten up pores and clean your skin of any excess make up.
- Farmacy Honeymoon Glow : At night I applied this after the Deep Sweep. It feels amazing on your skin and gives this beautiful glow! I have loved adding this product to my skincare routine. After shaving my face, I use this product. It tinkles a bit but in the morning I love how my skin lights up!
- Kiehl’s Midnight Concentrate : I have never loved a product more! It was something I caved and bought at the beginning of quarantine to help freshen my skin up a bit. After that there was no going back. It is a little magic potion that is my tried and true. I apply it at night over the top of the Honeymoon Glow!
- Kiehl’s Eye Cream: After I applied the Midnight Concentrate at night, I would add eye cream under my eyes. I did not want bags under my eyes for the wedding and have seen how this product prevents that for me in the morning! It’s very creamy and goes on so smooth.
- Summer Friday Jet Lag Mask : Both morning and night I used this to hydrate my skin! One thing I did not want is dry skin during my wedding. Especially with it being in the winter and having eczema I have to be really careful to not let me skin dry out. It saved me through the winter from drying out!
- Laneige Lip Mask : I have mentioned before that I have eczema and it is right around my mouth. Throughout the winter I struggle to keep my lips hydrated. I found this Laneige lip mask and now it doesn’t leave my side haha. I have it at my desk and most importantly at my night stand to wear through the night! The last thing I wanted on my wedding day was cracked lips to kiss my husband with:)
- Kiehl’s Deep Pore Cleansing Mask: Every week (normally Sunday) I would steam my face and then use this mask to deep clean my pores! I found doing this consistently, especially after shaving my face, was a game changer. I was able to clean out my pores every week and it helped keep any break outs to a bare minimum!
